This course will teach the student how to survive when everything we normally take for granted is gone, when the structures we depend on have failed. We will examine the Disaster Cycle, particularly the Mitigation and Recovery phases. Students will prepare an extensive personal preparedness plan covering such topics as supplies, communication, food and water, shelter, security, and comfort (yes even in survival there can and should be comfort). We also look at preparedness on the institutional and government levels.
We will look beyond these plans towards the one aspect of survival, which will enable a person to survive when all planning has failed. Disasters, by definition, overwhelm all available resources. If all available resources are gone, only one thing will keep a person alive and that is their attitude. A persons awareness and attitude, the two are closely linked, allow a person the means to remain calm, avoid panic, and draw upon resources within and outside the person to survive when their world has failed. In truth not everyone survives in extreme circumstances; people die, but, even in death, attitude, if it cannot save you, provides some degree or comfort.

Керамические голуби и горшки-головы.

Dec. 14th, 2012 10:13 pmНедавно читала про заимствование иконографии, Ян Бреммер пишет, что на востоке не было принято разрисовывать керамику мифическими сюжетами как в древней Греции, сюжеты "путешествовали" на тканях и печатях.
Здесь в посте про коллецию Британского музея как раз есть такие печати, и даже та самая печать, где Гильгамеш и Энкиду убивают лесное чудовище Хумбабу, от которого пошла традиция изображать Горгону со злобной ухмылкой.

Очень жаль, что он закончился. Было очень интересно. Записалось на курс около 50 000 человек, до конца дошло уже другое количество. "We are very pleased to see that over 2,500 of you earned a certificate of accomplishment, and that 2200 of those certificates are with distinction".
Зато похоже с курса Think again я уйду, все делаю через пень-колоду, никакой мотивации. Через месяц начнется "Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning", а также Introduction to Philosophy, Science from Superheroes to Global Warming

Следующей по значению и популярности в Британском Музее является экспозиция Древних Греции и Рима. Она занимает в четыре раза больше пространства, чем посвященная Египту, но и здесь взглядам публики представлена лишь малая толика всех богатств музея, относящихся к эллинско-римской культуре. Всего же "классическая" коллекция музея насчитывает более 100 тыс. экспонатов и является одной из крупнейших и самых разносторонних в мире.( Поинтересоваться... (очень много фото с комментариями) )
